To kick off the 2013/14 Premiership season, Sky and Monterosa launched Sky Sports Pub Challenge, a live, play-along football pub quiz, pitting fan against fan and pub against pub.
Viewers check in to play the game at any pub showing Sky Sports, and compete for monthly and season cash prizes, premiership tickets and in-venue spot prizes. There was 6 hours of live play-along gaming every single weekend that was played in 3000 pubs nationwide with a £20,000 player of the season prize. I was part of the team that worked up with the initial concepts and designs of the app.
The core app is built in HTML5, wrapped in a native iOS and Android layer with custom JavaScript APIs to expose lower-level features including notifications, device vibration and native sharing.
